Land is preserved by
extending the life of existing landfill sites. By increasing the volumes
of recyclables, we decrease the volumes of garbage dumped at local
landfill sites. When less land is used and polluted by landfill sites,
more land is safely available for recreation, residential homes,
business operations, and civic and community services.
The Sea
to Sky Corridor has 2 landfills - Squamish & Whistler. There
is a public transfer station in Pemberton & Devine.
Organize your load as sorting
is necessary to reduce the amount
of waste entering the landfill.
Recycling
bins are located at each landfill site. The following items will
not be accepted into landfills:
Explosive
substances
Radioactive materials and wastes
hazardous
chemicals
waste oil
or petroleum products
materials
that are on fire or above 65 degrees celsius
treated
wood
chemical
wastes originating from industrial process
