At yesterday’s Squamish Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Excellence Awards, Owen Carney was honored with the “BILL MANSON AWARD (CITIZEN OF THE YEAR)”. The award was presented by Leila Mitchell of The Chief. Owen was delighted to be recognized for his extensive community work. As a long time Rotarian, he has been involved in giving back to many local community and international causes. He has spent many years with the Squamish Days Loggers Sport organization, as well as being an integral member of the Whistler Weasel Workers. Through his business, he has sponsored and donated to many other community efforts. Owen is currently Co-Chair with his wife Anne Carney, leading the Capital Campaign for “Centrepoint”, a new facility for Sea to Sky Community Services to better deliver the current and future numerous community programs.
